I have listed two rare items from the Great Japanese Empire era, Showa 15 (1940 AD).
These are the Tokyo Prefecture Athlete Award and Participation Award from the 11th Meiji Jingu National Sports Festival.
These items are rare and not listed elsewhere.
Due to their age, there is noticeable deterioration, but they are antique items that convey a sense of history.
Celebration of the 2600th Year of the Imperial Era
Showa 15 marked the 2600th year since the founding of the nation, and grand ceremonies were held on February 11th of Showa 15 for Kigen-setsu (now National Foundation Day).
The National Sports Festival was one of these events.
The Tokyo Prefecture Athlete Award, from Tokyo Prefecture, the predecessor of Tokyo Metropolis, is in a box and measures 2.5cm in diameter.
The Participation Award is wrapped in a paper package and measures 3.5cm in diameter.
Both are medals, please check the photos for designs and details.
