?? What is Ceramis? It's a granular clay made from baked clay, called Ceramis Granules, manufactured in Germany. It's sterile, odorless, and has excellent breathability, water retention, and drainage, making it a very clean soil for indoor gardening. Even those who don't want to bring soil into their homes can easily enjoy indoor gardening.
?? Watering
Water when the surface of the Ceramis dries out. It grows better when kept slightly dry, so avoid letting water pool at the bottom of the pot.
Recommended for those who are hesitant about growing houseplants in soil indoors.
Will insects appear?
Will it become unhygienic?
You can rest assured with hydroponic culture, a soil-less cultivation method.
?? Benefits of Hydroponic Culture
* Sterile, clean, and odorless
* Less prone to insects
* High decorative value
* Economical as Ceramis and hydro-balls can be washed and reused multiple times
* Versatile container options (glass containers make it easy to see the water level)
* Low watering frequency and easy management
?? Disadvantages
* Houseplants tend to grow smaller (some may see this as a benefit...)
* Requires fertilizer and ion-exchange resin
* Root rot preventative needs to be washed or replaced approximately every 6 months to 2 years!
* Although seemingly for beginners, it can lead to plant death if the mechanism isn't understood.
*Note*
The crucial difference between soil cultivation and hydroponic culture is that in soil, microorganisms and bacteria break down waste products from plant roots. In hydroponic culture, this breakdown must be done chemically. This is where ion-exchange resin is necessary.
