COALPORT
ENGLAND

British Antique
1820s
?? Rare Compote

A period when British porcelain competed for the most elegance.
Introducing a beautiful antique Coalport footed compote,
born to adorn the tea tables of royalty and nobility ?

Founded in 1795, Coalport is known as one of Britain's leading luxury porcelain kilns,
captivating many aristocrats with its delicate white porcelain, elegant gold accents,
and artistic paintings.

This piece is from an era before mass production became mainstream,
when the beauty of the craftsman's hand was directly embodied in the vessel.
It overflows with a quiet elegance not found in modern tableware.

In the center is a British pastoral landscape.
A gentle riverside, a small boat, trees, a manor in the distance—
it was the ideal land that people in 19th-century Britain loved.
While cities developed due to the Industrial Revolution,
people sought solace in the richness of nature and the tranquility of the countryside.
The world depicted on this vessel is precisely that era's longing.
Surrounding it are three-dimensional gold decorations, following the Rococo style.

Wavy edges, elegantly spreading arabesque patterns,
and a pedestal that connects like petals.

This compote, in particular, features a landscape painting on its foot,
making it a luxurious creation that is as beautiful as a painting from any angle,
360 degrees. Creating such complex three-dimensional shapes in porcelain
required advanced molding and firing techniques.

Both the painting and the gold accents are entirely hand-painted by artisans.
The subtle variations and gradations of the brushstrokes
preserve the very breath of the artisans from nearly 200 years ago.

A compote is originally a vessel for beautifully arranging baked goods, fruits, and cakes.
Whether you gently place baked goods on it,
or decorate it with grapes or figs,
it has a presence that makes it picturesque even when simply displayed.

It is both luxurious and poetic.
A vessel where elegant time flows within tranquility.

Coalport, which continues to captivate hearts even after more than 200 years.
Good antiques gain more depth with the passage of time.
Please enjoy it *.゜
