【In Stock】Okawame (Okawame, Yunnan Hundred Herbs) Seed Tubers (30)

These are seed tubers (mukago) of Okawakame (also known as Yunnan Hyakuyaku).

The item for sale is the seed tuber (mukago) shown in photo 1, which is the actual item you will receive.
Larger tubers (mukago) can be cut, and the cut surface can be dried for one day before planting.
The pimple-like growths on the seed tubers (mukago) will become sprouts and roots.

When planting, bury the tubers (mukago) very shallowly, horizontally. Deep planting makes germination difficult.
Unlike the mukago that form at the tips of vines, when you germinate from the mukago (seed tubers) at the base, multiple strong sprouts will emerge as shown in photos 5 and 6.
Germination is difficult when the soil temperature is low.
It takes about 14 days for small sprouts to emerge from the seed tubers (mukago) and grow to seedling size.
Once the vines start to grow, pinch off the tips of the vines to encourage the growth of side shoots (secondary sprouts).

There are no concerns about diseases or pests, making it ideal for home gardens.
You can harvest from mid-June until the first frost.
It requires little effort and can also be enjoyed as a green curtain on your windowsills.

It has a slimy texture similar to seaweed wakame.
It is rich in minerals, and when the leaves are heated or chopped, they become slimy and delicious.
In addition to the leaves, the vines and roots are also edible.
It has a crisp texture, is not overpowering, and is very easy to eat, with a satisfying bite.
It is delicious in miso soup, or with soy sauce, ponzu, and various dressings.
