Portmeirion Botanic Garden Purple Iris Oatmeal Bowl 6.5" 1982 Backstamp England

Vintage Portmeirion Botanic Garden oatmeal bowl featuring the Purple Iris floral motif with butterflies and the classic green laurel leaf border. Purple Iris was one of the original Botanic Garden oatmeal bowl motifs and is a retired design.  Made in England and marked on the underside with the Botanic Garden Trophy backstamp. This is the 1982-era transition backstamp, identifiable by the tiny hidden 8 and 2 incorporated into the mark. The prominent 1972 at the bottom of the backstamp refers to the year the Botanic Garden collection was introduced rather than the manufacture date of this bowl.  This bowl measures approximately 6.5 inches in diameter and is ideal for cereal, oatmeal, soup, dessert, or display in a Portmeirion collection. The detailed botanical artwork showcases the Purple Iris, one of the most recognizable motifs in the Botanic Garden series.  Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing noted.
