Vintage Pier 1 Imports Ceramic Terracotta Elephant Pattern Serving Platter

This is a vintage retired Pier 1 Imports ceramic rectangular serving platter from their global-inspired elephant collection, featuring a warm terracotta orange border detailed with paisley and floral motifs. This platter is from the Pier 1 “Terracotta Bastik Elephant” pattern, also referred to as the “Aztec India” or “Marrakesh Elephant” collection.  This line was distributed primarily in 2004 in the hand-finished stoneware and earthenware collection.  The bold terracotta borders and the intricate center elephant illustration were applied using a specialized underglaze transfer sheet method, meaning every tray produced has the exact same uniform design layout but can vary slightly in the intensity of its hand-painted orange tones.
