【Product Description】
Authentic Hakata-ori is a silk fabric produced in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and its surrounding areas. It features geometric patterns based on the dokko (a Buddhist ritual object) and hana-zara (flower dishes). It is also known as Hakata Kenjo or Kenjo Hakata, as it was presented to the shogunate by Nagamasa Kuroda, the feudal lord of Chikuzen, during the Edo period. It is woven using a technique called tate-une-ori, where the warp threads wrap around the weft threads, with only the warp threads appearing on the surface, creating prominent horizontal ridges. Because 30 to 60 fine warp threads are used, it has a firm texture, a tight weave, and a glossy appearance. It is said to be a belt that fastens securely, is resistant to loosening, and is easy to tie. I purchased this item here as an unused item, and have only worn it once or twice. There are no stains or dirt, and it is in very good condition.
