Vintage Chinese Shiwan mudman kung fu figurine. Key CharacteristicsStyle and Origin: This traditional style of ceramic artwork originates from the historic kilns of the Shiwanzhen Subdistrict in Foshan, China. Design Traits: Mudman figurines are famous for their unique construction style where the hands, face, and skin are left unglazed to showcase the raw texture and natural color of the clay. #22 The clothes and base are finished with a rich glaze—in this case, displaying deep brown tones. Subject: While classic 19th-century mudmen traditionally depicted elder scholars, monks, or fishermen, mid-to-late 20th-century export pieces heavily integrated popular martial arts, Shaolin, and kung fu themes. Many modern and vintage variants of this specific design are sculpted in homage to legendary martial artists like Bruce Lee. Any questions please leave a comment. Offers welcome.
